WoodWatch is designed and developed by Casey Nordick, an Engineer living in Hamilton, New Zealand.
WoodWatch was first conceptualized after a conversation with a rental property manager, who was complaining of yet another property on his list having long term moisture damage, requiring massive repairs and temporary accommodation arrangements for the tenants.
Research and engagement with electronic design experts, leak repair specialists, landlords and property managers led to the creation of the first successful prototype in 2023. Further rounds of stress testing and revisions to the system took place over the following year leading to the first household installation in June 2024.
